WHAT’$ ¥OUR NUMB€R? by Luis Diaz

What’s Your Number? was quite engaging and fascinating to read from beginning to end. What one would do if they won the lottery serves as the central theme of the novel, and the author effortlessly pulls us into the world of the lead character. It is lighthearted, and the brief chapters match the portrayal of the lifestyle in the book.

You can finish it in one sitting if you’d like because it’s so effortless and simple to read. Luiz Diaz, his wife Krystal, and his lover Jasmine are the book’s primary characters. There are other characters in the book as well, but they merely serve to forward the plot and flit in and out.

The majority of the book’s pages are devoted to the shenanigans of Luiz and Jasmine, and because Luis is the focus of the narrative, the reader gets to know him intimately. We watch with curiosity and perhaps a little sympathy as he goes from being a middle-class man to living the life of the affluent and famous.

With the character’s “change” in identity, there is a lot of ego talk to cope with, but that makes for a fascinating read. While some people might be surprised by the outcome, I knew from the moment he won the money that some sort of swindle or heist would take place.

Anyone who enjoys action and adventure stories should read What’s Your Number. Although it doesn’t have as much action as police and robbers, there is still action due to the constant scene changes and the high-roller lifestyle depicted in the book. Despite a few minor typos in the text, it’s a thoroughly delightful book that’s perfect for reading on a wet or sunny afternoon. I enjoyed it a lot and can recommend it to anyone interested in this type of genre.

About The Book

An upper-middle class man, Luis, is living his dream life alongside his high school crush and now wife, Krystal, and their two kids. With both having established careers, they’ve afforded the luxury of having a more than comfortable life that has allowed for many travels and adventures.
