The foot was still in the shoe when it fell into her lap. It shouldn’t be too difficult to trust me when I tell that the story of TJ Newman’s debut book is unusually compelling with an opening line like this. But until you see it for yourself, you might find it more difficult to believe that she is able to keep the suspense and tension at such high levels throughout the entire book. Since I was reading it, it would have been difficult to pry this book from my grasp.
But Falling is more than just a superbly executed action thriller. Simply put, it is a terrific book. Everything about this fictional work exuded authenticity to me. Even the “evil characters” have excellent character development; everything from their motivations and backstories to their actions and conversation under pressure ring genuine. Or, at the very least, felt rough and realistic enough to keep my reading bubble intact.
Readers will experience several heart-in-mouth and teary-eyed moments in Falling thanks to its nearly flawless execution and rich characters. The word “warm” feels overused; this story is moving instead. Most importantly, Falling is full of surprises, which makes it difficult to review without giving away any surprises.
About The Book
You’ve just gotten on a plane to New York.
Additionally, there are 143 other passengers on board.
You are unaware that your pilot’s family was abducted 30 minutes before to takeoff.
Everyone on your flight must perish in order for his family to live.
If the pilot obeys his orders and crashes the plane, that will be the only way the family will make it out alive.
Have fun on the trip.

The Review
Falling
This book grabs you from the first sentence & doesn't let go until the end. It's fast paced, and we get to see through the eyes of those involved as the situation evolves. I thought this was well written - the author made me laugh a little and cry a lot. She's drawn upon her experience as a flight attendant, and I feel that this has added to the experience for the reader.
