Can this year possibly get better? Jared Morrison’s novel Of Dreams and Angels is a masterful blend of charm, comedic timing, and a meaningful tale about the enigma and power of love. The best writing, romance, love, inspiration, heartbreak, and personal growth can all be found in Of Dreams and Angels.
Successful financial expert Joe Riley balances logic and numbers. He starts to see his dreams via Claire, a female character. He doesn’t know her, and the mystery of her intrigues him even more. Over the course of many, many sleepless nights, he gradually comes to know.
He struggles to put his dreams and the mysterious woman out of his mind despite being pragmatic and practical. He can’t ignore the importance of his relationship with Claire, though. He resolves to find the ideal woman after some prodding and his own internal conflict. This is the beginning of a passionate affair that will sweep you off your feet.
Morrison is a true artist, and it is impossible to tell that this is his first book. From the first page, I was captivated by the dream and drawn into the narrative. Each scene is described in detail, but he also leaves room for the reader to add their own feelings and imagination. The characters are easy to love and relate to. They are not monotonous or logical. Each character has room to grow and is well written.
Even the supporting cast members, including the internal committee and pals, are endearing and unique in their own right. Morrison writes in a style that not only sounds wonderful but also reads musically. The sort of contemporary man a woman values is exemplified by the figure of Joe Riley. quiet, but perceptive and receptive to opportunities. You must read about his metamorphosis.
The concepts of love, respect, friendship, family, and community are highlighted in the narrative. Morrison also emphasises the idea that our actions and those of the people we spend time with help to create our realities, which grow from our dreams. The timeline spans over a year, but the chapters are only a few pages long and have adorable titles.
Take a box of Kleenex with you while there is laughter because you’ll need them for the sad scenes. I experienced a wide range of emotions while reading this book. I advise anybody to read this book. Read this book and go on this journey with Morrison in “Of Dreams and Angels.”
About The Book
Joe Riley has a successful, by-design life in the world of finance. He loves order, discipline, the tangible, the measurable. In pursuit of success he’s spurned attachment, keeping romantic entanglements “on an island” while leaving his life and heart invulnerable. When he begins to dream of a woman half a world away he’s never encountered, his notions of practicality and planning are called into question.
In a search that variously brings him to the psychologist’s office, a medium’s table, and from the Rocky Mountains to the streets of London, England, Joe begins to fall for the woman of his dreams. In the process, he’s beset by innumerable questions: Is he going mad? Might she actually exist? If so, why does he see through her eyes? Why is he party to visions that are either the greatest privacy invasion of all time, or a possible cosmic match in the making?
In the quest for answers, Joe confronts the deeper questions that assail most of us who dare open our hearts: Will I be enough? Will they love me when it stops being easy? Will they stay? Will they sweep me up, just to watch me fall? A moving exploration of relinquishing fear and embracing the unknown, Of Dreams and Angels invites you to trust the dreams that brought you this far will bring you further.
