It seems as though the Tower will survive without us. Every level and community will continue to function, producing their peculiarities, establishing and severing bonds, developing and exchanging secrets, and upsetting the foundations of human nature. The Tower will continue to be a mirror of our own lives, reflecting both our best and worst traits and allowing us the chance to either pursue our aspirations or let our fears and fury rule us.
I’m delighted to inform that almost all of my really high hopes for this book were met.
The Fall of Babel is a story freight train that is now coming to a head, but it is also a goodbye letter to this odd and endearing band of misfits and explorers who have come a long way from where they all began and are now on their respective life’s journeys.
I had been thinking about Adam’s disappearance and the accompanying mysteries for a long time. My curiosity was satisfied by Bancroft’s novel and profoundly satisfying explanation. One of the story’s main plot lines was the Edith & Marya dilemma, and its resolution was one of the most heartbreaking and ultimately human ends I could have hoped for. The tale comes to a close with all the thrill, intrigue, and promise it had at the start.
There are some passages that have created mental ditches. in particular, the first time a character expresses affection. Or when a suspenseful action sequence ends with a horrifying, stunning, and adorably depressing finale. Most importantly, though, are the everyday exchanges that are so utterly human: words laced with regret, anguish, apologies, and glimmerings of hope. My belief that there is more good than bad in this world has been partially restored because to Bancroft’s lyrical words and moving characters.
The Books of Babel is an innovative and exceptional epic that gets better with repeated readings. In the realm of narrative, both traditionally published and self-published, it has left an undeniable mark. Nothing else comes close to that.
The Review
The Fall of Babel
Absolutely terrific ending to a wonderful set of books. A beautiful book that I took a while to read because I didn't want it to end. I still think the first is probably the best, but I really do look at them as a whole and it's really just a long, deeply thrilling story spread out over four volumes.
