Readers of “The Hunter: A Nightingale Novel” are kept on the edge of their seats the entire time by T.M. Dawson’s engrossing and intriguing mystery. As she navigates a dangerous world filled with secrets, intrigue, and terrifying adversaries, the story follows the mysterious central character, only known as Nightingale. Because of its intricate narrative, fascinating characters, and vivid settings, fans of the mystery and thriller genres will be intrigued by this book.
Nessa is my favorite character. She doesn’t require assistance from anyone. She has a strong sense of independence. She struggles with being told what to do but has no trouble accepting the existence of demons. She is fiercely devoted to the people she loves and values. She handles things effectively, especially when they come up quickly. She also knows how to conceal knives in her clothing.
Nessa finds herself the center of attention to a guy named Mike, whose father operates a tattoo shop called Hellish (great name). Mike acts quite inappropriately toward Nessa as he enters for a tattoo. Nessa, a strong lady who can take care of herself, pulls out her tattoo gun and defends herself with it. What is left standing in front of her is a man who appears to have died and should not be alive.
The Nightingale is a narrative about love and sisterhood as well as about war and its horrors. Vianne and Isabelle, the two sisters, have very dissimilar personalities and frequently disagree with one another. However, as they must deal with the harsh reality of war and how it affects their lives, their bond grows and they start to rely on one another for survival.
The protagonist, Nightingale, is an interesting and complex individual. Because of her mysterious origins, extraordinary abilities, and unwavering resolve, she is a compelling character about whom readers will undoubtedly want to discover more. As the story progresses, Nightingale is forced to confront both her enemies and her inner demons, sending her on an exhilarating and difficult journey of self-discovery. Themes explored in “The Hunter” include loyalty, trust, and the shaky lines between right from wrong.
Hannah’s writing is so vividly descriptive that the reader almost gets a sense of the aroma of freshly baked bread, the chill of a winter wind on their face, and the horrors of war as seen through the characters’ eyes. All things considered, “The Nightingale” is a book that everyone who enjoys historical fiction should read, and it will leave a lasting impression on everyone who does. This heartfelt and thought-provoking book is a monument to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unfathomable hardship.
About The Book
What happens when a demon and a monster want the same woman?
Nessa McRae’s life is all she could ask for; a well-earned reputation as a kick-ass tattoo artist with a list of clients out the door. All she ever wanted was to be able to pay her rent and eat in the same month, and she’s finally found that stability… until she’s suddenly thrust into a world she never knew existed.
Ailes MacGillvary is a Nightingale—a paranormal protector of Edinburgh, Scotland. When a monster begins stalking Nessa, he’s tasked with protecting her. He never expected to be drawn to a human, much less experience the white hot passion that explodes between them.
Can he keep her safe—not only from the inhuman monster hot on her heels—but also from himself?
The Review
The Hunter
This book wound up to be so much more than I expected. The narrator, Thomas Bestwick's accent and narration was so good and kept me hanging on his every word. The story was so different and unusual. The main characters were so likable and the side characters were just as interesting. I immediately went to see if there was any books on the side characters but was so sad there is none at this time. I will be checking on this author and can't wait to get more in this world.
