As Daphne and John Jones drive in Bluebell, their caravan, she thinks about how much she enjoys her new job as an officiant for weddings and funerals. Her website has filled her calendar with upcoming weddings and new places to see while she and John travel (a camper to us in the States). Weddings, according to Daphne, bring out the best and the worst in individuals.
Unfortunately, a murder also results from this wedding. Daphne starts her own investigation since she is desperate to learn what took place. She has seen the conflict between the families of the bride and groom. It appears to have been around for a number of generations and is not going away any time soon. How many people will pass away before Daph, as she prefers to be called, can safely board Bluebell again and leave the conflict and fatalities in her wake? Will the killer also have her on his or her list?
Australia is the setting for Till Daph Do Us Part. Readers are intended to get a genuine Aussie/British English experience, according to author Phillipa Nefri Clark. She has, in my opinion, done an outstanding job of enticing readers inside the caravan with Daphne and John Jones.
Till Daph Do Us Part features an amateur sleuth, just like all cosy mysteries. Daph insinuates herself into the investigation by following suspects and looking back in time. The friendly local cops welcome her ideas and suggestions but caution her to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Naturally, she continues.
The first volume of the Daphne Jones Mystery Series is this one. Characters and the place are entertaining and fascinating. The murders are committed in various locations and settings thanks to Ms. Clark’s genius decision to have them travel in a caravan, letting readers join in on the trip. This is the first book by this author that I have read. She has also written a number of additional romance, suspense, and mystery books. I can’t wait to investigate them as well.
Till Daph Do Us Part will appeal to fans of Murder She Wrote. The narrative of this entertaining cosy mystery is flawless, and the fact that the main character is from my generation always adds interest. It shows that retirees can do strange things, like solve murders. I’m eager to read her other works, particularly the following two novels in this series.
About The Book
Daphne Jones is in the outback town of Little Bridges to officiate a wedding at a beautiful rural home. It is a perfect setting. But not so perfect people are determined to stop the union, resulting in a member of the bridal party ending up face down in the swimming pool.
She’s no detective nor a spring chicken, but Daphne does love a puzzle and her gut tells her this was no accident.
Amid old family feuds, resentful relatives, and missing money, there are plenty of suspects, and none of them appreciates Daphne snooping in their business, but with a heart of gold and a way with words, this celebrant sleuth is not giving up. Unless the killer finds her first…
The Daphne Jones Mysteries are later in life camping cozies with a travelling wedding officiant and an Aussie twist.
